Why I Chose the Name Piece by Piece Guidance
When people hear the name Piece by Piece Guidance, they often assume it refers to solving problems one step at a time.
And while that is certainly true, the meaning behind the name runs much deeper.
The name was chosen in memory of my sister-in-law, Liz.
Liz was an incredible woman, wife, friend, and one of the strongest people I have ever known. She had a passion for quilting and a love for butterflies and especially my brother. Those two things may seem simple on the surface, but over time they came to represent something much larger.
When my brother's wife became critically ill, our family found ourselves navigating a journey that no one is ever truly prepared for. There were medical decisions, insurance questions, difficult conversations, paperwork, planning, uncertainty, and ultimately saying goodbye.
During that time, I found myself doing what I had always done for friends and family. I researched. I organized. I documented. I asked questions. I learned everything I could about what was happening and what would be needed next.
Most importantly, I tried to make sure my brother could focus on being a husband rather than becoming overwhelmed by the countless details that accompany a serious illness and loss.
As I documented the process and later used that same process to help others, I began to realize that there was a significant need for this kind of guidance.
Families often find themselves facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives while simultaneously trying to navigate systems, paperwork, logistics, and decisions they never expected to make.
The more I thought about creating a business, the more I struggled to find the right name.
Nothing felt right or meaningful enough.
Then it hit me.
A quilt.
A quilt is not created all at once, it is created one piece at a time, every piece has a purpose, contributes to the whole. Some pieces are beautiful, some represent difficult memories and they all tell stories.
Make it stand out
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
But together they create something strong, meaningful, and lasting.
That is exactly how I view life and exactly how I view guidance.
When people are facing overwhelming circumstances, they often feel like they need to solve everything immediately. There is pressure to have all the answers, and it can feel like they should know exactly what to do, but that is not how life works.
Most of the time, progress happens in one conversation, one decision, one document, one question, and one step at a time.
Piece by piece.
The butterfly came naturally after that.
Liz loved butterflies.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
To me, butterflies symbolize transformation, resilience, hope, and the ability to move through difficult seasons and emerge changed. The quilted butterfly became the perfect representation of both Liz's memory and the mission of this company.
Every time someone sees our logo, I hope they see more than a butterfly.
I hope they see hope, resilience, and the possibility of moving forward, even when life feels uncertain. Most importantly, I hope they remember that they do not have to carry everything at once.
Piece by Piece Guidance was built on a simple belief:
People deserve support during life's most difficult moments. Not someone to take over. Not someone to make decisions for them. But someone who can help them understand what comes next, how to organize the pieces, and how to move forward with confidence.
I am not a lawyer, doctor, or a financial advisor, those roles are still important and needed. I am someone who has spent a lifetime helping people navigate complex situations, ask better questions, find resources, and move from confusion to clarity.
The name Piece by Piece Guidance is a tribute to a woman who inspired me, a family who trusted me, and a mission that continues to grow every day.
Because sometimes the most important thing we can do for someone is help them take the next step, one piece at a time.
